In
case you haven’t heard yet--here in the States, Daylight Savings time is 3 weeks
early this year (apparently, an attempt to save energy). Unfortunately, it’s
totally screwed up people’s digital calendars, at least for the next 3 weeks. Oh, and one week in November, just to make things really interesting.
If
you look closely at your online calendars (computer, cell phone and
PDA), you’ll notice that between March 13 and April 1 (when DST
normally starts), and then again in November, most of your appointments
are off by one hour.
Seems
that despite the fact that this change to Daylight Savings Time has
been coming since 2005 when Congress put their stamp of approval on it,
it still caught some software companies (well, OK, mainly MICROSOFT) off
guard, because they’re scrambling to create patches and fixes for their
customers. But the patches might be more
trouble than they’re worth.
This
article explains what’s going on and offers some suggestions for how to deal
with it.
