Tagged out of a sound sleep

Tag, you're IT!

There I was, curled up with my nose between my paws, happily hibernating on top of my blog(s) and deliciously dreaming of many tall, dark, hunky men feeding me many tall, dark hunky chunks of chocolate, when all of a sudden a flaming arrow landed with a sooty thud next to my ear.

Apparently I've been 'tagged' by Chris Owen over at the Pink Apple Connections blog.

Eh? Tagged? What the heck is that...?! Is it some kind of new bloggity widgit? Am I visible from outerspace now, a push pin on some extraterrestrial blog map?

Maybe my blogs flatlined while I was sleeping--I better check my toe for a DWB (Dead While Blogging) tag...

Turns out that tagged just means that Chris has tapped me and 4 other bloggers in a game of blog tag. You know, like the game of tag you used to play when you were a kid.

I'm "it".

Only this game is sort of like a cross between Tag and Truth or Dare, except without the Dare part. When you're "it", you have to share 5 things that people probably don't know about you, and then you tag 5 more bloggers.

Alrighty then -- give me a sec to grab a cup of tea and I'll try and come up with 5 obscure facts about myself and whittle my list of favorite bloggers down to the top 5 that I want to shoot with a flaming arrow...

5 Things You Might Be Surprised to Know About Kathy (aka, The Inspired Market-her)

1. I've been to Santa's house. Yep, the North Pole. Not the fake North Pole on the top of the globe, but the REAL North Pole, the Official Home of Mr. and Mrs. S. Claus, which happens to be just north of Fairbanks, Alaska, where I spent my formative college years. And it was in the middle of winter AND it was colder than a witch's...well, let's just say it was cold enough. I didn't see any elves, but there were some pretty strange noises coming from the garage.
2. When I was 12, I met Queen Elizabeth in Paris. OK, maybe that's stretching it a bit. I was visiting France with my family when we got caught up in a big crowd standing on the side of the road near the Arc de Triumph. It was so crowded that you couldn't even move, so we just stood there with everybody else, with no idea what we were all waiting for. Pretty soon, a bunch of big black cars drove past, and a lady in a powder blue hat and white gloves waved regally. Or so I was told by my father, who was 3 feet taller than me at the time and had a better view. But he said she waved right at me.
3. The year after I met the Queen, I travelled to The Hague as a delegate to the United Nations. Well, technically it was the Model United Nations, which is an annual conference for middle school students who are pretending to be the United Nations. Each team of students represents a country; I had to learn all kinds of facts about the history, economics and politics of the Republic of Cyprus. I don't remember a single fact now. To tell the truth, I'm not even 100% sure it was Cyprus. But I do remember fidgiting with my favorite ring that my Aunt gave me, which popped off my finger and rolled down at least 17 rows of seats in the middle of the General Assembly. I think it landed somewhere between Spain and Sri Lanka, but I never found it.
4. I don't like lima beans. Alot.
5. I once jumped off a bridge with a bungy cord tied to my foot and my weight written on my palm (it had to do with making sure they tied you up to the right rope). Just before I jumped, I said a little prayer that God would make sure my fist stayed clenched if I didn't make it.

Wow - I can't even remember the last time I played tag. Though I will say that I used to be good at it because I have long arms. ;-)

You were quite the world traveler, eh? Are the flagpoles in the North Pole made of candy cane? I'd be tempted to stick my tongue on that pole, but not the one in a Christmas Story.

My biggest world travels were to New Dehli, India. I've been there a few times - I think twice as a child and once by myself when I was 21. It was a great 2 weeks that I spent in a meditation ashram during the winter. Cold, cold, cold, and really amazing.

Oh geeze...I just shared something that most people don't know about me and it wasn't even on my blog for the 5 interesting things for the Tag game.

Guess I'll have to think of 5 others... :-)

I JUST KNEW you'd be good value for this fun game.
I' have laughed to the point of tears running down my face as you bring your usual tongue in cheek to the stories. And Mona's right, you are a well-travelled lass! See that's where I went wrong, I didn't start early enough, hence my own yearning for Ireland.

Mona, I can't say for certain whether the flagpoles at North Pole are made out of candy canes, but I can tell you I know from personal (and painful) experience that there is NO GRACEFUL WAY to remove your tongue from a frozen pole. (Count that as the 6th obscure fact you now know about me...)
